Karson City Rebels delivers a stoked retro blend of Americana-rock, blues and Bakersfield sound to the music scene. Led by Gil Karson (lead singer), Karson formed the group following a sabbatical to focus on raising his family and embarking on a successful career in film direction and production to “answer the call” to return to his inherited love–music and live performance. 

 

Made up of multi-instrumentalist Jon Adams, guitarists Kyle Appleton and Chris Brooks, Brian Burwell (on drums), and Jon Greathouse (on keyboards and vocals), the newly organized six-member triple threat group has worked alongside Grammy-winning producer Gerhard Joost (Stevie Wonder, Missy Elliot, Sangeeta) at Studio Hill Austin and recorded at Sal Rodriguez’s Studio in LA. 

 

The band introduced new recordings in a waterfall series throughout 2024; the tracks have enjoyed more than 372K Spotify streams cumulatively to date. In October 2024, Karson City Rebel’s released its debut EP, DRIVIN’, co-produced Gil Karson and Grammy-winning Gerhard Joost (Stevie Wonder, Missy Elliot, Sangeeta). The six-song recording project, featuring all original KCR tunes, encompasses songs that travel a road map of various life experiences, from free-fallin’ love, the aftermath of a break-up, time-lapse reflections and a reason to celebrate.
